October Author Update
I'm throwing everything in the trash.
As soon as the All for Mage and Melody title reveal was over, I turned my sights to Tali Book 2.
And I realized, 50k words in, writing a book without knowing its backstory isn’t the way to go.
So I’ve put drafting on pause while I write out the backstory for two very important side characters and their relationship! As a hint, this particular song from EPIC: The Musical fits these characters pretty well:
With this development, I’m feeling really good about reworking Book 2, which will be my goal for November. Then, after Thanksgiving, I’ll have beta feedback for All for Mage and Melody and I’ll be ready to start getting it ready for my editor in January!
I sold about fifteen books this month! To be entirely honest, I didn’t pay a lot of attention to numbers. I focused on author events, work things, friend hangouts, and slogging through Book 2’s drafting process.
However, the numbers I DID pay attention to were pretty exciting: We’re currently at 82 Kickstarter followers for the All for Mage and Melody Kickstarter!!
Quotes To Enjoy
Some monsters were too terrible to be bested even by love.
She tied her braid with a piece of twine and tossed it over her shoulder, glaring at the moon rippling against the water. “I leave tomorrow,” she repeated, in an imitation of her brother’s husky voice. “That’s not fair.” She bit her lip, her head sinking to rest on her drawn knees. “That’s not fair,” she whispered, the tears taking her voice.
Upcoming Events
THIS SATURDAY from 1-4 PM, Rayleigh Setser and I will be at the Barnes and Noble in Prestonwood, TX! As my last author event for the year, I’m super excited for this, and I can’t wait to be able to say I’ve had a signing at BARNES AND NOBLE!!
